Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin porcelain laminates that are great for covering up stains, discolouration, gaps, chips, and surface cracks. If you are interested in improving your smile then you can attend a free cosmetic consultation. Book a free cosmetic consultation with the Precision team to determine if this is a suitable option for you.

Your teeth may simply need whitening and re-contouring to improve their shade and shape. However, if veneers are required then we can provide you with a trial smile first. This will give you a preview of your dental veneers before we make any changes to your teeth. Your Precision dentist will also provide you with a full written treatment plan outlining the costs involved and duration of your treatment journey.

We will always endeavour to remove as little of the tooth enamel as possible while still achieving great results. Some veneers, such as Lumineers or Emax require minimal, or no, tooth shaving.

Precision’s expert and experienced American and UK lab technicians work tirelessly to provide you with highly aesthetic results. Your veneers will be tailor-made to your specific requirements. Our dentists have a combined experience of placing thousands of ceramic veneers and Lumineers.

How are dental veneers fitted?

A thin layer of the tooth surface is usually shaved off, however, with Lumineers and Emax this process will be minimal and you will not need an anaesthetic. The perfectly fitted veneer is then adhered to the front of the tooth. This is achieved by using a special dental cement. For those patients looking for cosmetic dentistry, we can provide six types of dental veneers:

  • No tooth drilling composite veneers made chairside in one visit.

  • The famous, no tooth drilling Lumineers made by the Cerinate lab in the USA.

  • High Strength Emax Porcelain Veneers made by a cosmetic dental lab in the UK.

  • Highly aesthetic MAC Veneers made in California, USA.

  • High quality da Vinci Veneers made in the USA and seen on ABC’s Extreme makeover show.

  • Ultra-thin Durathin veneers made in America.

What is the procedure for having ceramic dental veneers?

Your journey to ceramic dental veneers begins with a clinical assessment and an X-ray too.

Your Precision dentist will carry out tooth preparation where necessary and send digital scans to the lab. A temporary veneer is then fitted so you can continue with your daily life. When the final vebeers are created by the lab, we’ll invite you back in for a final fitting.

All that remains, is for you to enjoy your new smile.

What are the different types of porcelain veneers?

There are two types of veneers. These are ‘feldspathic’ porcelain veneers and pressed porcelain veneers.

Feldspathic porcelain veneers require a ceramist to build up the porcelain in layers and cure it at a high temperature to produce the final result. Usually this type of veneer is not as strong as pressed ceramics such as Lumineers because it requires a higher thickness to give it the necessary strength, therefore, more drilling of the teeth is needed to give technicians the space they need.

With pressed ceramic, the veneers are first made in wax and shaped and contoured to produce the chosen design and shape. The waxed veneers are casted and then the molten porcelain has pressure applied to produce the final veneer.

What are the Advantages of Emax veneers?

Emax veneers can have thinner edges without chipping.

Minimal, or no preparation of the tooth enamel. The thinner the veneer, the less the preparation or drilling of the tooth is needed. This allows for a stronger bond between the tooth and veneer. This is because it is much more efficient to bond veneers to the enamel layer rather than the inner layers of the tooth.

Chameleon effect due to higher translucency.

What can Emax Veneers do?

  • Provide a beautiful white smile.

  • Cover misaligned, misshapen, discoloured, or chipped teeth.

  • Close gaps and spaces.

What is the procedure for having Emax dental veneers?

Firstly, the teeth, the facial profile, and the occlusion of the teeth will be clinically assessed by one of our highly experienced Precision team. Then, based on the findings, a design for the veneers is chosen. This is followed by a “trial smile” which demonstrates the chosen design in wax. At this stage, any tooth preparation that is needed will be discussed with you. Your dentist will then carry out a clinical assessment and take an X-ray of the tooth.

In the second stage of your journey, any required preparation of the tooth is carried out and digital scans are sent to the lab. A temporary veneer is then fitted.

Fitting of the final Emax veneers occurs once the veneers have been delivered from the lab.
